Mastering the Basics - Contains ALL the pieces!

Based on my popular week long class focused on learning the fundamentals of fish carving in all aspects of freshwater / saltwater fish and habitat pieces I have created the new DVD Mastering the Basics series as a replacement for the hands-on class. 

Rather than breeze through a fish specific project where you only get to see things once and don't get a chance to really understand why things are done a certain way or in a certain order I wanted to do a series of video courses that focus on the task instead of the fish species.  These courses do exactly that.  They are not "you make a cut here, here and here, then here, here, here and here" videos.  You learn why those cuts are needed and how they are related to the other cuts performed further on into the carving, tying it all together. 

Instead of my DVD courses providing a condensed lite version as an alternative to my hands on classes as originally planned years ago.  I decided to go in the opposite direction and include everything from A-Z, even things not covered in class because of time constraints.  Basically I rolled it out on the table here, nothing held back, 22 years of experience in the art of fish carving and teaching - documented.  All my knowledge on the subject, little time saving tools, shortcuts, and techniques.  Everything.

I cant deny the real reason behind the decision to go this deep on the subjects was in fact - cancer.  I have a second chance most people never get afflicted with the disease.  I want to use this time to document everything I have developed over the years so one day if my family or friends want to learn my style of carving from me, they can, one way or another.  Who knows, as I get older I too may have to review these DVD's just to replace things I have forget over the years.   So, along with everything else driving this project there is a little self preservation rolled in as well.
